moonset and the milky way pass near aspen colorado

thomas o’brien:
i think this is my all time best photo. moonset and the milky way on independence pass near aspen colorado. this is a stitched 9 shot (verticals) panoramic with a total of about 4 min exposure time. was truly a once in a lifetime experience being up there last night. it had just rained about an hour before taking this shot clearing out all the smoke and dust in the air. the clouds on the far right were a brewing thunderstorm over aspen colorado and they are lit internally from a bolt of lightning. the rest of the clouds were lit up orange from the setting half moon last night. this is only a small portion of the total that i took last night. I still have 2 more rows of images to stitch above this (all stars) the total number of photos when its done is going to be 27 images from a 5Dmark2 camera. i think this will be close to 200megapixels.
